Joining the facebook community for a cause you believe in, wearing tantra tees with strong, yet subtle messages, screaming your heart out , as you cheer for your college team in a basketball match, walking down the road wearing a tee saying ‘explicit content’ or maybe just supporting Gay rights or the people of Tibet. Well, yes, the need for expressing our angst, frustration, joy, empathy has never been greater.

There is this silent change that’s taking place around us. A lot probably has to do with what we’re seeing arounds us. Noticing, how the police repeatedly fails to do their job, how a hundred people will stand and watch a scuffle , but not one will come forward and mediate. Also, films like ‘A Wednesday’ and ‘Taare zameen par’ lend a fresh perspective to much debated issues which need urgent recognition.

Expression, from what I observe, is now more ‘Out in the open’ than in the comfort of our homes. And its contagious as well as extremely powerful. Also, now, its less about views , views and more views..but more about expression through various medii. It maybe – a simple accessory standing out from your wardrobe, having an entirely different opinion as compared to what the majority thinks or just the way you do random things. it could be your absolutely crazy lingo!!! ( include your ‘fugli’, ‘random’ and ‘arbit’ !!! )

I remember a battery ad campaign…whose tagline was a huge rage at one point of time- ‘Gimme Red’ ! ..and more followed, the recent one being- ‘Yeh Hai Youngistaan Meri Jaan’ !. In a sense, they do reflect a certain level of freedom in expression.

For me, Its one of those words which are the most difficult to define! As, some one said, ‘Of all the things I wear, my freedom of expression is most important. And that is true for me as well. It need to express and not to repress is just constant and I guess that’s what makes each and everyone of us the individuals we are, in the literal sense.

I owe this freedom a lot.. !! its what I am J !

It's 9:39 PM ET and I sit quietly in my office in my Ohio suburbia home while my wife and children sleep calmy above. I am a bit scared about what I might write into this white space on the screen. Will it be my inner most deep thoughts, the ones that no one dares to ever bring to the table. Will I be honest with myself and with you, my reader? I hope so, but you have to imagine how terrified I am right now to open myself up completely to you.

I created this blog because I feel that most people carry with thoughts, feelings and the like that they keep wrapped up inside them. I carry these same thoughts, feelings and emotions just like everyone else however I am finished with holding them deep within, scared that those who might hear what I think will certainly judge me as a misfit. This blog is my avenue to express what those feelings that this common man has within. I hope you enjoy what this blog might evolve into. I suspect that this blog will not be for your timid as I have quite the black hole wrapped up inside me.

Well until next time ....

This piece by peewee gonzoid is another excellent find, which could just as soon be a photograph of yours truly at the moment. It's just one of those days, if you know what I mean.

The rest of the work that you will find in peewee gonzoid's albums is certainly a far cry from ordinary. And it is also another leap from the work that we have exhibited previously on our blog. However, so is the mood in which I sit typing today, so we find it wonderfully appropriate and poignant all the more.

Life is not only made of rose petals, butterflies and light, it is also made of shadows, chaos and fear. Our universe is a perfect balance between all extremes, and we here at by. Pheakkley are making every effort to portray the same balance in our Features, at the same time that we attempting to portray all aspects of ourselves.

We find his drawings and sketches, although certainly bizarre, to be strangely cute and enigmatic. We are sure that he is well aware of his own uniqueness, and proud of it as we would imagine. Another fine example of an Artist who walks the talk, and exists purely in the state in which they ARE.

Thank you for being who you are, and thank you for creating this image so that we might find solace in our own reflection here today!

The name of our next Featured Etsy seller is the perfect description for the overall tone that you will find her on by. Pheakkley today. littlezooofmisfits is a delightful Artist who's works are quirky, unique, colorful, fun and, well... misfits! What else do you say about a felt Boombox with fangs?

If we were to have this boombox in hand right now, we would cuddle and squeeze him, perhaps crying a bit on to his soft, cute little face, and we know that he would never judge us for anything we might say. We love him for exactly who he is, and we know that he would love us just the same.

If we have children in the near future, or decide to borrow someone else's children for the same of spoiling them with superfluous gifts, this boombox would certainly be top on our list. In fact, we may just have to change his name to Alfred for the time being, because if he were our own little squishy, that is certainly what we would call him.

littlezooofmisfits has a shop announcement that reads, "...a place where it's okay to be a little different!"

That makes me think of my favorite Shel Silverstein poem from when I was a child, that I suppose I must share with you now.

Take care, and Thank You to all of our readers and Featured Artists for being exactly who you are, because it allows us to be exactly who we are, and it's good, and it's ok, and it's beautiful. And that's exactly how it should be.

Dolores (A month of faces)

Originally uploaded by xxxmarine

We here on by. Pheakkley have had a pretty intense few days recently, and this first piece pretty accurately describes how we are feeling this morning. We aren't in a particularly wordy mood, so our Features today will be kept pretty short and to the point. We are however going to be doing a double Feature to make up for the two we missed yesterday. That means 4 amazing Artists will be Featured today! Everyone calls in sick from time to time, and we here at Pheakkley simply chose to play that card and get some rest so that we could come back today with new and hopefully more balanced energy. Enjoy!

Our first piece comes from the Artist xxxmarine on Flickr, and his name does give some indication as to what a lot of his work will contain. For us, we find his erotic male images to be a beautiful expression of self, and he is obviously someone who values honesty and integrity of truth far more than he is concerned with what other people think about him or his work! We admire this quality so much in the Artists that we feature, and we find that his voice is imparticular a very strong and inspiring note to follow.

This is not to say that he does not also have a huge collection of work that is non-erotic, in fact, the other half of his work is sublimely beautiful and abstract, of which Dolores is the perfect representative.

We encourage you to take a look through the many well categorized images of xxxmarine's work, and see for yourself exactly what we mean about the true breadth of his artistry. All of his erotic images are clearly labeled and separated into sets which make it easy for the viewer to take or leave whichever they please.

We hope to achieve the same level of freedom that his work expresses one day, and find a place in our own hearts where we can truly express ourselves, label it for the sake of others and their cautious minds and eyes, and then let it all go in the spirit of creative truth and experience. Every thought deserves to exist in the form in which it was born.

Bravo xxxmarine. We love you!

how i got my stutter

Originally posted on Etsy.com by madelaine

We originally happened across this image when we first arrived at Etsy.com, and at the time it was a bit too much for our taste. Of course, the tides have shifted, the moon has changed and the earth has turned since last we came upon it, and this time it is exactly the image we were looking for.

The rest of madelaine's work certainly has a softly morbid tone to it, however we find it to be a beautiful expression of her own current emotional and mental state, and we think that she manages to get her messages across clearly and with perfect articulation. If you were to read her profile, you would arrive at exactly the same conclusion for yourself. "Maybe."

Despite the butterfly stutter, we like referring to ourselves in the third person, too. =)

I think you would all be very interested to know that I, Rachael Ehrlund, have a fantastic obsession with Vampires, and have since I was a child. Not what most would expect from the Free Loving Happy Hippy that they usually encounter, but that is exactly what we mean about each person being an expression of a complete and balanced whole, rather than attempting to pretend that their rose colored glasses never shatter from the cold.

We would write more, but we really were intending for these Features to be short today, and so far we have not managed to achieve that! Woe is the plight of the over-expressive, excessively wordy writer! Always with more to say than they can fit onto the page!

Take care, Rachael and Jake Ehrlund

I think sometimes we underestimate the meaning that can still be held in a tattoo, no matter what the design is. Whether it's something custom designed as a memorial piece or a tribal sleeve, they are all powerful to the wearer on some level.

If you look at someone with a tribal sleeve and feel it's over-done, and maybe it is very popular, it still has strong implications to the wearer. Some people may purely find it attractive aesthetically, but I feel the one with the tattoo will have gone through alot to get the tattoo.

Whatever the design or size, getting a tattoo is a big occasion because you are effectively modifying your body forever. It can make you feel more confident, sexier, remind you of a loved one, an important point in your life. Whatever emotions it evokes, the fact that it does this at all proves to me that tattoos are deeper than is widely given credit for.

Because they are currently what you may call a trend, because they are widely popular, the meaning becomes ignored as opposed to lost for the most part. It's a whole new thing to have body art slowly become part of the mainstream and alot of people have never cared for or even considered the subject of tattoos before. There's a lack of understanding and an abundance of ignorance, which those of us with visible tattoos I'm sure have all experienced with comments and questions such as "you do know those are permanent?".

Tattoos are still life changing, powerful, spiritual almost. It bring us closer to ourselves, helps us express what we wish to express. It is an art form and I for one am glad at it's rising popularity, finding tattoos attractive and interesting it just makes it more pleasant for me to walk down the street!

The father of the nation worked hard to eradicate caste system in this country. He wished for a place where all would feel equal. On his birthday, a new system of inequality was introduced. So draconian, it makes you feel that the US is a smoker-friendly country.

When the ban came in effect, I was away, in the UK. Obviously I expected change when I came back.

And what a change! It is now seen in the eyes of every person who watches me smoke. What would have been perceived as simple disgust before, has now changed to complex hostility. And I am no exception. There may be a few good reasons why the ban was called in -- one purpose it has served however, unfortunately, is the creation of two classes opposed in personal choice.

The response to my previous post, for example, is an insignificant example. You'd almost think that one side was avoiding commenting on the post to discourage any further attention on written matter related to tobacco.

I am drawn to Asuph's post about Homosexuality: a meta (or non) normative take. The last piece in that post -- the "no rules" are the most interesting. While he writes that with a specific context, it is fairly universal. I would add a fourth category to Asuph's post:

D. De-normalisation through legislation.

I have observed the ban being brought into force the world over, the initial reactions and eventual resignations. The moment these things are legislated, there is potent belligerence in the air. For example, even some of the tolerant non-smokers have been swayed to extremism (and thankfully, both sides of the extremes -- but those are negligible) by these bans.

Someday, you will be on the wrong side of the legislation according to the Recurrently Dividing Set Theory. To borrow and build upon Oscar Wilde's thoughts, even if I disagree, I'll defend to death your right to choose; question is, will you?

Microsoft has been developing in the shades a set of tools for photography lovers. Take a look ate the Pro Photo Tools 2. This software allows, between another things, to geotag your photos even if you don't have a GPS. You just look up a location from a search panel or from a livemap and the program will add the coordinates to the selected pictures (I describe the process in a previous post: Geotag: the concept).

Microsoft Pro Photo Tools provides a set of tools for photographers to perform various tasks with their images—including RAW captures. The current version enables you to quickly geotag your photos, view and edit metadata, and more, leveraging the power of Windows and Microsoft Live Local.

You can get it from http://www.microsoft.com/prophoto/downloads/tools.aspx

Also take a look at the photography effort being developed by Microsoft. Still doesn't make me go from Photoshop to the Expression set of tools, but there has been a serious investment in the area.

The executive board of the California Southern Baptist Convention unanimously endorsed the state

The executive board of the California Southern Baptist Convention unanimously endorsed the state's proposed constitutional marriage amendment during its meeting Sept. 11-12 and encouraged Southern Baptists in the state to do the same, reports Baptist Press.

The amendment, known as Proposition 8, will appear on the Nov. 4 ballot and would define marriage as between one man and one woman, thus overturning a May decision by the California Supreme Court legalizing "gay marriage." The board passed a resolution acknowledging the Bible as the "Word of God" and the "standard by which all human conduct and religious opinion should be measured." (See the full text of the resolution at the bottom of this story).

The resolution acknowledges: "The Bible also teaches that marriage was the first institution ordained by God at the beginning of creation when it was established between Adam, a male, and Eve, a female, as the pattern for all time."

The resolution calls on California Southern Baptists to pray about the issue and conduct voter registration drives through Oct. 20, the cutoff date for voter registration. The resolution urges pastors to inform their congregations of issues related to the ballot measure and encourages them to participate in the grassroots effort.

Additionally, the resolution encourages California Southern Baptists to financially support Proposition 8. The resolution points to Internet resources such as those at www.csbc.com/protectmarriage, www.ProtectMarriage.com and www.protectmarriageca.com .

In presenting the recommendation to the executive board, Don Fugate, communications committee chairman and pastor of Foxworthy Baptist Church in San Jose, said the resolution is something all California Southern Baptists should support, and that he believes it is at the core of what Baptists believe about the family.

Following is the complete text of the resolution supporting Proposition 8:

"WHEREAS, The Bible is the Word of God, written by men, but divinely inspired, the Bible also is God's revelation of Himself to man. It is God-breathed and inerrant, and all Scripture is true and trustworthy. It is the standard by which all human conduct and religious opinion should be measured; and

"WHEREAS, The Bible teaches that God loves all people and commands us to do likewise; the Bible also teaches that marriage was the first institution ordained by God at the beginning of creation when it was established between Adam, a male, and Eve, a female, as the pattern for all time. Since the beginning of time societies, cultures and religions have endorsed marriage as the union between one man and one woman for a lifetime. Marriage provides the framework for intimate companionship, the avenue of sexual expression according to biblical standards, and the means for procreation. It also is God's unique gift to demonstrate the relationship between Christ and His church; and

In case you're wondering how a blog can take pictures,

I'd just like to say that I am, of course,

not the one who originally takes them

You know who takes them

'History' says everything

To remind you,

The only thing I am able to do,

Is write, re-write and alter text,

I refuse to copy other people's work

Except regurgitating the material that is given to me by my 'one and only'

Even though the text is aggressively different from the original

There is still a connection I believe

A connection that binds the digital with the humane

That, despite their physical differences,

Are in fact, alike
