a minha best carola me contou agora há pouco que inauguraram (e não faz pouco tempo, haha) uma nova estação! isso mesmo, uma nova estção climática que você só percebe se for MUITO rica. ela se chama "resort", ou seja, destinada às colunáveis que andam por aí nos seus yachts de maiô dourado e chapéu Jackie O, ou nas festas ao entardecer na costa malfitana, com longos de seda ou tubinhos cor-de-pele. Mas pra não ficar só nessas quatro peças, as grifes estão lançando coleções inteiras de resort pra satisfazer esse nicho bem específico de mercado. fica mais ou menos assim:

Mexican Bikini Vacation

The fam and I went on a fabulous and a much needed vacation last week to HOLA...PUERTO VALLARTA! After about 2-3 days I FINALLY relaxed and was well into the vacation vibe of engorging myself with the buffet food and drinking Mexican beers at 11:30 am. (Any earlier would be somewhat sinful ;) We hung out at the pool, the beach (water was a startling brown this time of year) and just relaxed. With 2 small kids we only left the resort once but that was fine by me. After having spent many nights in PV in my early twenties, hanging at a resort and not at a night club was fine by me! I was here to relax!! BUT I had to stare at half naked butts all week because unbeknownst to me, the hotel was hosting a bikini model convention of sorts. I say of sorts because it was a cheesy version of a conference, kind of Barbizon modeling school meets stripper from Vegas. It was a potentially eye popping moment for my husband and all of the other male vacationers but looking closer that wasn't the case. Of the 60 'models' they were training only 2 were worthy of calling themselves models in my opinion. There was a model that my husband dubbed 'Zeul' which was the evil female demon with short brown hair in Ghostbusters. She was about 40 with a skinny, flabby, pasty white body. The girls were on a photography schedule that began at 7am and lasted until about 9pm. That meant that at any given moment a model was lurking around the resort with her questionable 'photographer' that really looked like dirty old men who took up photography to get their rocks off. None of those photographers looked like the Sports Illustrated swimsuit caliber photographers and their cheesy 'VIP' passes were probably made in Word at home. We joked every day that my wandering eye father-in-law could take up photography as his new retirement hobby...he'd fit right in! By the end of the trip, which by coincidence the model conference began and ended on the exact days of our trip (blurg as Kelsie would say), I was sick of looking at cellulite ridden women in thong bikinis and wondered how much these poor girls paid to be there. I know I wasn't the picture perfect model in my bikini after 2 kids, but I certainly wasn't thinking I was model material. I think what best encompassed this trip was when my 4 year old asked me "Mom, why does that girl who's on the pirate ship slide, have her butt hanging out her bathing suit? Can we ask her to move?" I'll have you know that I had nothing to do with the gang of boys who came crashing down the slide and knocked that little hussy on her a#*! :) Isela

Finally we went to GOA...never thought that planning to visit a tourist place with friends would be so tough :)

We first thought of going to Bangkok but unfortunately the timing and other things did not work out. So this year (Sandy would say no, coz he said let us go to Bangkok this year itself :) ) we decided to go to Goa and finally it came down to three of us. Sandy aka Santosh, Britto (Agnel Britto - AB) aka (always known as Britto) :), and myself... Sara aka Saravanan.

The common weekend was decided and I was able to join only on a Sunday. AB and Sandy left on Saturday noon coz AB had some urgent work in office on Saturday also. So they landed in Goa on Saturday night and I joined them on Sunday by 2.30 pm. Check their blogs for more updates on what they did from Saturday night to Sunday noon :)

Sunday

I started at 11.05 am - Spicejet flight and landed at 01:20 pm. The flight journey was really awesome I had the feeling on Kingfisher (well if not the comfort, at least the service was equivalent). Luckily the Hotel Guys - Coconut Grove had sent me a pickup cab. (Sandy would go mad at this coz when they had requested for pickup on Saturday night the hotel guys said that they would provide pickup for them coz they provide pickup only for the person who has booked the hotel :) :) :) )

I reached the hotel at around 2 pm and found that these two guys were out on tour and they came around 3.30 pm to the room.

We had snacks and then moved out for a stroll in the Betalbatim beach (walkable distance from our resort - you can see the video below).

We started at Betalbatim beach and walked along the beachside to Colva Beach.

Spent sometime there had snacks and then walked back to the room. We thought we could settle in the swimming pool in the night but after coming back to the hotel found that the pool is closed by 7 pm itself. So we just had our dinner (oh we went on an awesome off-season package - "Non alcoholic welcome drink on arrival, Book 2 night and stay 3rd night complementary on room and breakfast only, Airport Transfer, Breakfast and Dinner, Complimentary Tea / Coffee Maker in the room with daily replenishment, Complimentary cookies in the room, Complimentary wine in the room, One Half - day sightseeing by coach, Taxes", and we ended up paying 9k only for three of us, for three nights :) it was booked through TravelGuru )

We decided to stay in the room on Sunday night because we had no proper transportation :( While walking back to the room in the night we noticed the sands sparkle after we step on the sands :) AB says it is his discovery (invention) but found that it is because of Noctiluca. Quote from the source, "The creature responsible for this bioluminescence is a tiny, single-celled organism called Noctiluca". Source - Google Answers - Luminescent Sand Particles. Monday

As everyone plans, we also decided to wake up early and watch sunrise and kept the alarm, etc, etc... We woke up at 5.45 am and went back for a nice sleep :) Woke up at around 8 and entered the swimming pool, ...

We were there for an hour or so and then had our brunch and left again to Colva beach to get our BIKES - cruisers.

We got two bikes - One Avenger and a Pulsar. Francis was the person who provided the bike for us. We paid 500 INR for one day.

We took at 12.40 pm IST and he asked us to return the bike the next day, same time at 01:00 pm IST. As a norm they maintain the tank with very less petrol and it is the duty of the tourists to pour petrol...So we just filled one litre in both the bike, (strange to see that people pouring petrol in the 1 litre water bottle :) )

Straight we headed to Panjim - Central Goa :) The drive was awesome one, driving in the mountains, etc...and it makes all the more wonderful driving in Avenger :) "God Like Feel"

From there we went through Miramar Beach and reached Dona Paula beach. We got impressed by the tattoos that were made there and got one for us also :)

We had our lunch at Dona Paula itself and then straight headed to Calangute Beach, North Goa. We went there but was not good enough, so we moved from there to Baga Beach, North Goa.

Spent some time in the beach and left for the Boat Cruise in Santa Monica. There is a very close attachment with Santa Monica. The first time I visited Goa was in 11th Standard - 1997. We came on a school tour - Chennai -> Bangalore -> Mysore -> Goa -> Bangalore -> Chennai. At that time me and Mani aka Maninathan had a blast there with all other students. We took the same Santa Monica boat in 1997 :). So this time also...to maintain the tradition (what tradition???) we took the same boat. Since it was an off-season there was not much crowd but still we enjoyed :)

After the boat cruise, we headed straight back to our resort in South Goa for our dinner. We reached there by 9.30 pm (orders are closed by 10 pm). We had our final dinner @ the resort, and crashed on the bed :)

Tuesday

Morning woke up early, had our breakfast (buffet) and left for Old Goa. The food was really nice in the resort. We came out of our resort and it started drizzling...a welcome one of course. Driving in rain, in Goa...is a memorable experience :) On the way we got stuck in the railway gate for few minutes...

We went to the biggest church in Goa (some even say it is the biggest in Asia) - St Francis Anthony church. It was really a great visit. In the Cathedral, they were performing restoration on the artworks. It was great to see how they did restoration. For all those Da Vinci Code fans, this is a nice place to visit. You can relate with most of the pictures :)

While returning back to our Resort (oh by the way we need to return the bike before 1 pm to Francis :) ) we halted few times for a photo shoot...

The main reason for me to go Goa this time was to njoy the water-sports (skiing, etc, etc) but after I reached, got to know that the season starts from next month only. So was very much disappointed. But on the way back from Colva beach to Betalbatim Beach (to our resort) we saw the skiing-boat used by rescuers (was remembering Baywatch serial :D ). So we took some pictures (for consoling ourselves).

This was the third time for me in Goa, I had been there last year October 2007 for STC India Annual Conference. If you ask me, "will you go again?" the answer is "Of course"...we still have lotsa beaches to be explored, we did not see sunrise (though we saw sunset :D ) and did not go in any of the water rides. (just finding reasons to go to Goa again :D)

The Historic Districts Council will be exploring the leisure destinations of old New York in its fall lecture series, “Out for the Day in New York: Historical Resorts and Amusements.”

“The Bungalows of the Rockaways,” a documentary, will be screened at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9. The historical quaint homes that once laced the peninsula have dwindled from nearly 7,000 in 1933 to only 500 today. The film will be followed by a Q&A session with Richard George, of the Beachside Bungalow Preservation Organization, preservationist Caroline C. Pasion, and the filmmakers, Jennifer Callahan and Elizabeth Logan Harris.

In the tour, “From the Shore to the Sideshow,” participants will delve into the history of Brooklyn’s Coney Island, getting a taste of the amusement park’s humble beginnings and its impending future. The tour will visit landmarks such as the Cyclone Coaster and Parachute Jump. The tour starts at 11 a.m. Sept. 14.

“Fun in the Sun: Resorts, Pools, Fairs and More!” will look at the venues of amusement and relaxation in all five boroughs. Various noted speakers will discuss the racetracks, railroads, and resorts of Brooklyn, New York’s WPA-era swimming pools, the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair, and the Bronx’s Freedomland amusement park. This event will be held on Sept. 16.

Lecture tickets are $15, tour tickets are $35, and you can snag a full series package for $60.

Disneyland Paris Resort y sus planes de futuro

Tras los éxitos del último plan de inversión (Space Mountain 2, Buzz L’eclair, Toon Studio, Tower of Terror, etc) y la celebración del 15 aniversario de Disneyland París que ha permitido lograr unas cifras históricas en el año ficasl 2007 (terminado el 30 de septiembre de ese año) al lograr 14′5 millones de visitas, aumentando el gasto diario y nocturno de visitante. Y la celebración continua este año en una segunda fase del 15 aniversario (llamado “The Celebration Continues… Big Time!”) que ha permitido incrementar un 10% las visitas en los 9 primeros meses finalizados el 30 de Junio del 2008. Los ingresos también han aumentado en ese período hasta una cifra sin precedentes, 938 millones de euros (el año anterior en los 9 primeros meses se había logrado 834 millones de euros). La compañía propietaria, Eurodisney SAS va a cerrar el año 2008 con unas cifras nunca vistas.

Tras estos precedentes, en los que el público ha respondido favorablemente a las inversiones realizadas, se presenta la obligación de seguir invirtiendo más para lograr que un dia llegue a ser rentable DLRP. Por ello WDI (Walt Disney Imagineering) lleva meses trabajando en un nuevo plan de Inversión con la vista puesta en los 20 años del resort que se celebrarán en 2012.

Muchos rumores se han oido al respecto y muy pocas confirmaciones se han producido hasta el momento, quizás el próximo dia 1 de Septiembre, cuando Philippe Gas tome el relevo de la dirección de DLRP de manos de Karl Holz tengamos más datos sobre el plan de inversión que se prepara.

Ante estos resultados se rumorea que la WDC (Walt Disney Company) estaría dispuesta a entregar un cheque por un valor indeterminado (entre 500 y 800 millones de euros) que permitiría a DLRP poder llevar a cabo su plan de inversión con la vista puesta en el 20 aniversario, recordemos que el precedente anterior fueron los 250 millones de euros del plan de inversión 2005-2008.

Tras esta introducción pasamos a detallar los rumores que mayor credibilidad o fiabilidad parecen tener en estos momentos, y comenzamos por el parque que mayores inversiones va a recibir:

Walt Disney Studios

Tras muchos años de rumores, parece completamente descartado por el momento la inclusion de Soarin’ Over the World ya que al parecer WDI considera que este parque tiene demasiadas atracciones con “cine” y otra más saturaría la oferta, por lo que prefiere centrar sus esfuerzos en otras atracciones.

2009

El año de la Mickey’s Magical Party estará presente en el parque gracias a la incorporación de un nuevo cartel en la entrada de Studio 1 que representará a Mickey y sus amigos, pero a pesar de no centrar muchos esfuerzos de la celebración en este parque, sí va a recibir varias novedades de peso.

Playhouse Disney: Live on Stage (Confirmado)

Cómo ya hemos comentado anteriormente, este nuevo espectáculo estará ubicado en el edificio de Disney Channel y recreará las aventuras de Mickey y sus amigos a través de marionetas y actores que interactuarán con el público.

Disney’s Stars ‘n’ Cars Event (Confirmado)

Finalmente no será una nueva cabalgata, sino una especie de “Evento”, al parecer WDI ha decidido hacer más interactiva esta cabalgata y la ha dividido en 3 partes con 4 coches cada parte. Al parecer saldrán al mismo tiempo pero cada parte desde una zona distinta del parque: Backlot, Production Courtyard y Toon Studio. Tras recorrer un pequeño trozo de área en la que salen, se pararán lo que permitirá que los famosos ocupantes de los coches puedan bajar para hacerse fotos con sus fans.

2010

El año 2010 se presenta con muchas novedades tras la celebración de la Mickey’s Magical Party:

Studio Tram Tour (Rumor)

Según apuntan todos los rumores, para 2010 ya se habría desviado el actual trazado de Studio Tram Tour, con su estación, para permitir la expansión de Hollywood Boulevard y Toon Studio en los terrenos próximos a estas áreas que actualmente ocupa esta atracción. Pero según parece, no será un simple cambio de trazado, si no que al parecer tendrá un nuevo hángar con una espectacular escena de Los Piratas del Caribe (esta vez inspirado en la película) en la que podrían aparecer animatronics e incluso actores y todo ello adornado con espectaculares efectos pirotécnicos. De hecho, según se rumorea podrían empezar las obras antes de final de año.

Toy Storyland (Rumor)

Toy Storyland será una expansión de Toon Studio con la ambientación de Woody’s Roundup de la ficticia serie de las dos películas de Toy Story en la que el protagonista es Woody. Esta nueva mini área será del estilo de A Bug’s Land en California, un área plenamente inmersiva y con la inclusión de 5 pequeñas atracciones entre las que se encuentran puntos meet ‘n’ greet para poder hacerse fotos con los personajes de la famosa serie. La idea de Lasseter (principal responsable de Pixar) sería de hacer coincidir la inauguración de este área con el lanzamiento de Toy Story 3 (Junio del 2010). Una de las posibles atracciones podría ser un Disk-O de Zamperla. Una posible muestra de credibilidad es que hace varios meses se vieron varios globos por la zona, al estilo de lo que se hizo con Crush, para conocer el volumen de las nuevas edificaciones y valorar el impacto en el entorno.

Expansión Hollywood Boulevard (Rumor)

El desvío de Studio Tram Tour llevará aparejado consigo la expansión de Hollywood Boulevard convirtiéndola ya por fin en una auténtica calle Hollywoodiense con la posible inclusión, quien sabe, de nuevas tiendas y restaurantes que aporten vida a este nuevo “Main Street” de los Walt Disney Studios.

2011

De momento no hay nada previsto (rumoreado) para este año.

2012

El gran año del 20 aniversario del resort y 10 del parque, las inversiones en nuevas atracciones vuelven a centrarse en los WDS como en el 15 aniversario (Toon Studio).

Ratatouille (Semi confirmado)

La atracción que festejará el 20 aniversario y será el centro de la publicidad será una “E-Ticket” (máxima categoria para designar a las atracciones Disney, ej: Phantom Manor, Tot). Esta atracción ha sido ya confirmada en un artículo de CNBC por los imagineers que se han encargado de “Toy Story Midway Mania” (DCA y DHS):

[...]There’s no question that Pixar is an increasingly important driver of Disney parks. The last big attraction Disneyland launched was its “Finding Nemo” Submarine ride last year, it’s working on a big “Cars” attraction for Disneyland and a “Ratatouille” ride for Euro Disney outside Paris. All these rides further proof of the fact that Disney’s acquisition of Pixar was about much more than just a movie studio, it was about building brands to exploit across all its platforms, which is CEO Bob Iger’s big strategy.[...].

La atracción estará situada detrás de Magic of Disney Animation y al lado de Toy Storyland formando junto con esta última la ampliación de Toon Studio. Esta atracción de grandes dimensiones será bastante novedosa, ya que al igual que Pooh’s Hunny Hunt de Tokyo Disneyland, usará unos vagones que no necesitan vias para realizar el recorrido, lo que le permite una mayor flexibilidad de movimientos permitiendo realizar vueltas y libertad de movimientos impensables con los tradicionales vagones sobre vías, esta será la segunda atracción que desarrolla Disney con este sistema tras la de Tokyo.

La atracción ha recibido la aprobación de John Lasseter para convertirse en la nueva “E-Ticket” de los WDS y al parecer, tras la fachada del restaurante Gusteau’s que será utilizada para tematizar el edificio, se esconderá una atracción con gran tematización e infinidad de detalles hasta en la cola de la atracción. Para recrear el mundo de Ratatouille los visitantes serán “reducidos” al tamaño de una rata y mediante vagones de 4 personas realizarán una visita a los fogones de la cocina del restaurante Gusteau’s bajo la óptica de Remy.

Placemaking

Es el término que utiliza Disney para referirse a las remodelaciones de algunas áreas para hacerlas mejor, y como precisamente los WDS no brillan por la calidad de su tematización ni la cantidad de detalles, la WDI ha decidido ir renovando poco a poco todo el parque para conseguir un mayor efecto de inmersión y de detalle para asemejarse a su hermano mayor.

Para ello las próximas actuaciones se van a centrar en el entorno de Animagique para darle una imagen más acorde con el resto de Toon Studio y Production Courtyard, en especial la Place des Stars.

Parc Disneyland

A pesar de que los esfuerzos se centran en los WDS para conseguir que este parque empiece a ser un verdadero parque Disney y pueda representar una oferta por si mismo, el Parc Disneyland también verá como llegan las inversiones.

2009

Como ya se ha publicado anteriormente, el 2009 estará marcado por las celebraciones de la Mickey’s Magical Party que hará que todo el parque vuelva a vibrar al son de una celebración, esta vez con la imagen de Mickey y su 80 aniversario.

Mickey’s Magical Party (Confirmado)

La nueva celebración permitirá seguir promocionando el parque bajo la insignia de un acontecimiento único que no puedes perder, algo que ha funcionado muy bien con el 15 aniversario. Para ello se van a reutilizar gran parte de los decorados del 15 aniversario pero con los nuevos colores.

Pero como toda nueva celebración, uno de los puntos más importantes serán las nuevas animaciones que se realizarán para entretener a los visitantes y para ello van a retematizar el Disney’s Character Express con el nombre de Minnie’s Party Train; en Discoveryland habrá un nuevo espectáculo conducido por DJ Stitch que se llamará It’s Dance Time; así como la más importante de todas, el nuevo escenario que se creará en Central Plaza para acoger el espectáculo central de la celebración. Este nuevo escenario estará compuesto por una escena central y 4 “satélites” lo que hará que tengan que ser elminados los árboles de la plaza para poder ubicar este escenario, y la tematización se inspirará en Le Théâtre du Château.

2010

Star Tours 2 (Rumor)

Al parecer, el año que viene se inaugurará una nueva versión de Star Tours en los parques americanos y esto daría pie a que la nueva versión se instalara también en el resto de parques Disney, aunque al parecer no estan muy seguros de querer invertir por el momento en Disneyland París en esta nueva versión.

2011

El gran año de Dineyland París, en el que tras Space Mountain, vuelve a construirse una nueva atracción y no es una simple reconversión o mejora.

The Little Mermaid Ride (Rumor)

Antes de que Eurodisney abriera sus puertas allá por el año 92 y bajo la ferviente creencia de que iba a ser el complejo más visitado del mundo, se creo un parque de enormes dimensiones con grandes atracciones, pero no todo pudo estar listo para su apertura, y entre esas atracciones se quedó el proyecto de The Little Mermaid Ride que se postponía hasta el año 1993-1994… Tras el rotundo fracaso que resultó la apertura de Eurodisney, el proyecto se guardó en los cajones de la WDI hasta que vio la luz gracias a la reedición del DVD.

Entonces la WDI volvió a ver con buenos ojos el proyecto y decidió recuperarlo en un primer momento para Disney’s California Adventure en su nuevo plan de expansión, para posteriormente dedicir incluirla también en Magic Kingdom de WDW y finalmente volver a su origen, Disneyland Paris. Esta estrategia permitiría economías de escala al realizar las 3 atracciones al mismo tiempo.

En estos más de 15 años, el storyline parece que no va a sufrir grandes modificaciones, pero la atracción va a pasar de una D o B-Ticket (como Peter Pan) a una E-Ticket (como Piratas del Caribe) para lo cual pierde el sistema de transporte similar al de Peter Pan para finalmente tener unos vehículos con forma de concha similares a los que se usan en Phantom Manor.

Para ello, la atracción necesita más espacio del precisto inicialmente, incluso se habla de la necesidad de 2.000 metros cuadrados, lo que podría significar que ya no usaría 2 pisos como en la versión original o si pero necesitaría un gran espacio para desarrollar las escenas.

Por lo que el emplazamiento no está muy claro si será en su lugar original, enfrente de la pizzeria “Bella Notte” o detrás de Festival Stage, tras las vias del ferrocarril, sabiendo que Festival Stage va a ser destruido en pro de un teatro mejor.

2012

Celebración del 20 aniversario.

Sin fecha predefinida

Nuevo teatro en Fantasyland en sustitución del Festival Stage a imagen y semejanza del Story Book Theater de Hong Kong Disneyland, el cual permitiría realizar espectáculos de mayor calidad y tamaño y con mayor comodidad.

Indiana Jones o Splash Mountain parecen estar aparcados de momento a futuros planes de inversión y a la respuesta del público ante este plan de inversión que empieza el próximo año.

Disney Village y Hoteles

Pero las novedades no sólo se quedarán en los parques, el Disney Village verá la apertura de nuevos establecimientos como Starbucks Coffee, Earl of Sandwich y la más importante de todas, la tienda Disney más grande de todas, World of Disney.

Pero también el número de camas puede ver aumentar su número, al parecer, EuroDisney SCA está estudiando varias opciones para ampliar su número de alojamientos. Una podría ser la de ampliar los hoteles Disneyland y Sequoia Lodge con nuevas habitaciones, y otra posibilidad sería la construcción de un nuevo hotel, pero no se sabe si bajo el regimen de EuroDisney SCA o bajo propiedad de una empresa externa a la empresa. Esto podría considerarse como confirmado, ya que han aparecido noticias al respecto en The Independent.

Deseo recomendarles el mejor libro que puede haber con respecto a la evolucion o el paso que cuesta dar....me refiero a "COMO ADAPTARNOS A CAMBIOS CONSTANTES Y COMO DAR EL PASO", el libro se llama ¿Quién se ha llevado mi queso?
